Bluefish BINGO!

The Bluefish Swim Club will be joining the Arnprior Legion for their weekly BINGO Night on December 2nd, 2013 at the Canadian Legion.

This is a fundraiser for the club and is the first of three BINGO nights we will be participating in. Bluefish requires 4 volunteers for 5:40 pm to sell the BINGO sheets.  Older swimmers who are comfortable with math and money are preferred.

Any volunteer under 18 years must leave at 7:00 pm when the BINGO begins as it is a licensed establishment.  Therefore we require 2-3 volunteers over 18 to stay from 7:00 pm until approximately 10:30 pm. During this time we walk around and clean used bingo sheets, garbage and drink containers from the tables.  When “BINGO” is called out we go to that spot and read the numbers aloud to the BINGO Master to confirm.  We then pick up the cash prize from the BINGO Master and deliver it to the winner where they are seated.

At the end of the evening, we will stay to help finish with clean-up.

Each parent and child volunteering from 5:40-7:00 pm will earn 3 volunteer points and each individual over 18 that stays from 7:00-10:30 pm will earn an additional 3 volunteer points.

To minimize disruption to the BINGO, we are asked to provide volunteers that can stay the duration of the evening except the kids which have to leave by 7:00.

If you own a Bluefish T-Shirt, please try to wear it that night.

Officials Clinic

Hello Bluefish Parents,

EOSA (Eastern Ontario Swimming Association) is holding an Officials Clinic in Ottawa on October 19th.  There will will be a morning and afternoon session available.  All the details can be found here.

For those of you new to the club or those who have yet to attend a clinic, I would recommend the Level 1 Timekeeper.  This is a 3 hour clinic…everyone passes…and it gets you points towards your Volunteer requirement and a free lunch.

The website for registration and all the details are in the attached document.  Once you have created an account for yourself it will have to be approved by our Officials Chair before you can register for the clinic.

Shawn Moffatt ….coach and soon-to-be Officials Chair.

Pumpkin Raffle

Hi Folks,
I have a 70 pound pumpkin and 500 raffle tickets to help raise funds for Bluefish!
I am hoping to get the tickets to families before the Thanksgiving weekend.  The tickets will be $2.00 each and each swimmer will get ten tickets.  I may be able to get them to the swimmers on Thursday’s practice, but I may not have them until Friday.
The draw will be Oct 23rd and includes free delivery locally.
Needham’s Farm in Pakenham donated the pumpkin and Brittle’s Printing gave us a discount (500 tickets for $75.00).
The money raised, (not a ton) but will come off the total families are required to raise.  More books will be available to those who need them. Spare books can be picked up at the Nick Smith Centre.
Swimmers can bring their completed books and money in a baggie labelled with their names to swim practise on the 22 to hand in to Pat or Stephanie McIntyre.
