Thank you for the tremendous interest in Bluefish this year! Unfortunately, at this time our registration for the 2021/2022 season is full. We encourage interested swimmers to keep working through Red Cross swimming levels, and/or Swim Plus, at their local pool in order to improve their skills and make sure they’re ready for Bluefish in the future!
The 2021/2022 Swim Season will run from Oct 4 ,2021, to May 31, 2022.
Interested in joining the Bluefish this season? We want to make sure
you have a good experience! New swimmers will need to have a new
swimmer assessment at Nick Smith with one of our coaches. Our first set
of new swimmer assessments will take place on August 16 and 17th.
Please contact us at email@example.com for more information!
I hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer with lots of opportunities to escape the heat by staying wet! And that you are all enjoying and celebrating the excellent Team Canada performances in Tokyo.
The Bluefish 2021/2022 Season will run from Oct 4, 2021, until May 31, 2022.
Fingers crossed, it looks like we’ll be competing this year! Swim meets are starting up around the province. Current pandemic provincial and Swim Ontario restrictions should also allow us to have a full compliment of swimmers in the pool right from the get go this year – i.e. hopefully, no stepwise start to the season. This is a moving target however.
Details for the various groups this year are as follows. Competitive Group, Schedule: Weekdays, M to F, 3-5 pm Precomp. Group, Schedule: M, W, F, 3:30-5 pm Noncomp. Group, Schedule: Tue and Thursday, 4-5 pm
The ABSC registration packages for the 2020/2021 Season, which will run from Oct 1st, 2020 to May 31st, 2021 are now ready and will be available on our website http://www.arnpriorbluefish.net under the ‘Registration’ tab.
Registration will work a little differently this year. We encourage you to complete the registration packages electronically, and then submit by uploading if to our confidential Dropbox. Alternatively you can complete a paper version and simply include it with the your cheques. Cheques and paper-registrations can be dropped off in an envelope along with a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate and health card (club must keep these on file) on one of the following dates in the parking lot of Nick Smith. Member(s) of the Exec will have a Bluefish Banner so we’ll be hard to miss.
Thursday, Sept. 17 (6-7pm)
Friday, Sept. 18 (6-7pm)
New swimmers to the club should have a session to assess their skills and to determine which swim group is best suited for them (Pre-Comp or Non-Comp typically). We’re in the process of organizing this session to occur within the next few weeks and will send out a follow-up email to the team. Our Non-Comp and Pre-Comp coach, Sharona will evaluate all new swimmers.
Unfortunately, social distancing recommendations and pool closures demand an early end to our 2019/2020 swim season. It has been a wonderful year for the Bluefish with lots of personal best times and strong friendships! Look to our website and social media for ways in which our children can remain connected and in shape! We are already planning for our 2020/2021 season.
It’s not too late to join the Bluefish! We are hoping to recruit more swimmers to join us in the 2nd half of the 2020 season (February to May 2020). Midseason registration for ABSC is scheduled for Jan 15th, 4-5:30 pm in the lobby at Nick Smith centre. Swimmers should do a swim assessment on deck between 4 and 5 pm with our Noncomp coach, Jane Dowd, before registering, in order to make sure they are ready for Bluefish. Remember that swimmers are expected to be able to confidently complete at least one lap of the pool (25 metres). Registration packages will be available at registration but we encourage parents to complete their packages before they arrive. The mid season registration package can be found under the registration tab on our website at www.arnpriorbluefish.net.
We are very fortunate this year to be graced by the presence of Savannah King for 5 visits throughout the swim season. Savannah is a 2x time Olympian and 2x medallist at the Pan Am Games.
She comes to us from the Head to Head Mentorship program. The program’s goal is to help develop a unique and empowering connection between a club like Arnprior Bluefish and an exceptional athlete (in this case Savannah). The hope is that the relationship developed with her will influence lifelong physical and mental well-being and encourage our swimmers in the sport of swimming
Savannah’s first visit is Tuesday, October 29th. She will be leading practice with the Pre-Comp and Comp swimmers. Please do your very best to be at practice and on time (10 minutes early if possible)! I look forward to meeting her and am excited about the positive influence she is sure to have on our Bluefish swimmers.
