Savannah dropped in for her first visit our ABSC swimmers in late October. She was kind enough to send us this introductory video prior to her visit.
We are very fortunate this year to be graced by the presence of Savannah King for 5 visits throughout the swim season. Savannah is a 2x time Olympian and 2x medallist at the Pan Am Games.
She comes to us from the Head to Head Mentorship program. The program’s goal is to help develop a unique and empowering connection between a club like Arnprior Bluefish and an exceptional athlete (in this case Savannah). The hope is that the relationship developed with her will influence lifelong physical and mental well-being and encourage our swimmers in the sport of swimming
Savannah’s first visit is Tuesday, October 29th. She will be leading practice with the Pre-Comp and Comp swimmers. Please do your very best to be at practice and on time (10 minutes early if possible)! I look forward to meeting her and am excited about the positive influence she is sure to have on our Bluefish swimmers.
We’re about to start a new season! Welcome to all the new swimmers and families who have already registered. It’s shaping up to be a great year for the Bluefish!
For anyone who might have missed our last session, another Registration Session will occur on Thursday, October 10th, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, in the Lobby of Nick Smith. Registration packages for our various groups can be found under the “Registration” tab.
A reminder that new swimmers interested in registering who haven’t already done a mandatory Swim Assessment with Coach Jane Dowd can do so on Monday, Sept 30th or Wed, Oct 2nd, between 3:30 and 4:30, on the pool deck at Nick Smith.
Let friends and family know that that if a child can confidently complete one length of the pool, then they’re encouraged to try out for Bluefish!
Dear Bluefish Families,
We hope you’re all escaping the heat and staying wet this summer! The website has been updated with the Registration Packages for the 2019/2020 season. The packages contain a checklist with everything you’ll need to register your swimmers for a fun and successful 2019/2020 season – please bring everything mentioned to one of the registration dates below.
Swimming assessments with our Non-Comp. Coach Jane Dowd will take place on Aug 27th and 29th from 4 pm to 7 pm on the pool deck at Nick Smith Centre. This is a chance for NEW swimmers to meet Jane and figure out which group is best for them. Swim suit, goggles and enthusiasm (in priority order) all strongly encouraged.
Registration will take place on Aug 29th and Sept 5th from 6 to 8 pm in the Lobby of the Nick Smith Centre. Members of the Exec. will be there to pick up your registration packages and to answer questions about the upcoming year.
Save the date! Bluefish Bowling at the Arnprior Bowling Centre (120 John St N in Arnprior) on Aug. 27th from 6 to 8 pm. We’ll be meeting in the lobby. Feel free to wear your flippers. This will be a great chance for the children – and parents! – to get together before making a splash in October.
These dates will be advertised in a number of ways over the next few weeks but feel free to forward this email to friends and family considering Bluefish for their children. If they would like us to add them to our email mailing list, please let us know! Also remind them that they can follow us on social media and at our website.
On behalf of the Executive and coaching staff we are excited to announce our Swim-A-Thon campaign for this year. Swim-A-Thon is our BIGGEST fund raiser of the year. Our kids will swim for 2 hours or 5km (200 laps), which ever comes first! Such a big effort deserves our recognition and support! Our Swim-A-Thon will involve all swimmers and it will be held on APRIL 2/3/4 at our pool, during regular swim times. Coaches will work out who swims on which day closer to April
Our club is once again fundraising using Swim Canada’s online fundraising program provide by RaiseAThon. This allows us to raise money quickly and easily all from just a few clicks from our computers. All of us will now be able to reach out to family, colleagues, friends, and utilize the tools of social networks in Canada and throughout the world to increase our “Swim-A-Thon” dollars raised this year.
These funds are essential to keep our club operating and registration fees low. REGISTRATION FEES DO NOT COVER THE COST OF OPERATING OUR CLUB.
Our club goal for 2019 is $15,000. With your help, we know we can achieve our goal! We encourage parents to go online and assist your swimmer with the registration. Realize this year, the family affidavit is part of the online swimmer registration. We are starting the fundraising campaign this year on February 11th, which gives your swimmer 7 weeks to surpass their goal.
This year Swimming Canada is unable to issue any receipts in any circumstance. You may find out more information here: https://swimming.ca/en/resources/swimming-canada-overview/swim-a-thon-online/
